The story of the affiches is a social story, containing the messages, wishes or dreams that animate a community, whether it be celebrating the pleasures of life, or dying for the homeland. Valuable artists have signed (or hidden their signature) on this form of graphic art.

Printed public notices appeared in public in the 15th century, but only in 1796, after years of experimentation, did Alois Senefelder develop the lithographic technique that allows them to be reproduced in series with good quality and colors.
In 1872, John Ruskin observed that the author's manifesto would replace refined painting in the depiction of important moments in society, for the simple fact that they speak to passers-by, not in the enclosure of galleries. Furthermore, since they have a practical purpose, they are designed precisely to stimulate desires or arouse emotions. For this reason, posters were also an integral part of the
mass politics of the 20th century.
